Welcome, I am Emma.
I have a special interest in working with women who have experienced relational trauma or PTSD and C-PTSD, and who struggle with the issues that often stem from it. Such issues often include but are not limited to anxiety, depression and mood disorders (including pre-natal and post-natal depression), identity and self-esteem problems, personality disorders, family and relationship difficulties, adjustment and life transition issues, and eating disorders.
To address the unique needs and characteristics of each woman I work with, I spend time to establish a warm space which feels safe. This facilitates a level of transparency within sessions that enables a deeper and clearer understanding of the issues at heart, and which is essential to process traumatic experiences.
I draw heavily on interpersonal, psychodynamic, experiential and cognitive behavioural techniques in my approach to working with women which often includes aspects of Schema Therapy, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Internal Family Systems Therapy, Emotionally Focused Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, and Polyvagal Theory.
βHaving provided psychological support to a diverse range of individuals over the last decade, I came to realise that my passion lies in working with women. This led me to establish a service that considers and caters for the unique issues and experiences that women often encounter over the course of their life.β
To ensure I provide each woman with the best quality care possible, I prefer to work with a smaller case load of clients. This I believe, facilitates a stronger level of presence and attunement which is at the core of my work and my philosophy in healing.
What does Adsum mean?
Adsum is a latin word meaning βI am here" or "I am present". In a world where we are endlessly inundated by distractions, being present with ourselves and one another has never been more important.
